100_3385One of the sure signs of Spring is the arrival of goat babies. So far this season seven new goats have been brought into the world via the ADAMAH pasture. Shemaya was the first to give birth, two Saturdays ago, to two boys. Una was next, a boy and a girl. Ilex gave birth to three kids, two boys and a girl. Angie, everyone’s favorite matriarch gave birth on the last day of Passover. It was the first goat birth I have ever witnessed and I can only begin to express my amazement at this incredible event.

Zilpah, who is almost totally off her knees these days, is currently two days past her due date.

Aitan, our holy goatherd, is super busy caring for little ones (my heart has been stolen by the little runt boy, who has to be bottle fed and is super people friendly) and moms and renovating the milking parlor in preparation for our new ADAMAH dairy. As soon as he has a second to catch his breath we’ll hear what he has to say about all of these new goats.100_3379

  1. Wish I could be there right now. Kudos to Aitan for his hard work and his role in bringing such beauty and light to the world.

  2. Why is it that there is such a low proportion of males in Adamah, but such a high one in the baby goats? And I could be wrong, but it seems to be the case every season.

And echoing Jeff – yasher koach to the mayor.
