The days are full, full, full, y’all. Mulching, weeding, harvesting, cheese making, singing, sharing, laughing – the list could go on and on. A notable event of late – the first pickled thing of the season has been immersed in brine. Shehecheyanu!  This morning, Jacob (a summer ‘nik) and I harvested some beautiful turnips and kohlrabi from the sadeh and biked them back to the cultural center, where they met with garlic scapes, dill, hot peppers and pickling spice. We made several small experimental batches with different combinations: turnips and scapes, kohlrabi and turnips, scapes and hot peppers, turnips and scapes and kohlrabi, you name it, we probably put it in a jar.

In about a week, we’ll do some serious taste-testing. Could one of these become an official Adamah seasonal pickled product? Only time will tell!
